Fifteen students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA, Ondo State, are among 66 others chosen from four universities from South-West Nigeria to undergo a week-long intensive leadership training programme sponsored by the Impact Your World Leadership Initiative.
The students also each won a One Hundred Thousand Naira Scholarship financial grant awarded by the Non-Governmental Organisation.
The beneficiary universities are AAUA; Federal University, Oye Ekiti; Federal University of Technology, Akure; and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State. The leadership training runs from Sunday, February 25, to Sunday, March 4, 2018 at a posh location in Lagos.
Addressing the students prior to their departure, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, urged the lucky students to be good and worthy ambassadors of the University.
In the words of the Vice Chancellor, “You are some of our good students who have been doing well. You are our good ambassadors, and I know you will do well where you are going. We are very of proud of you and we will always be proud of you.
“You have done well and you have been outstanding. That is why you have won the scholarship. It is my hope that you will win more laurels for themselves and for the University. You should never forget that you have become ambassadors of this great University. Therefore, you must never do anything that will tarnish the image of the university. You must keep flying the flag of excellence that the University has become known for.”
Prof. Ajibefun said the feat of the students lends credence to the quality of academic knowledge being imparted into students of the institution.
It will be recalled that Impact Your World Leadership Initiative had last year conducted some rigorous academic tests in the four designated institutions where the final 66 candidates were chosen. The organization gave each of the winners One Hundred Thousand Naira scholarship, and also booked them for an all-expense-paid leadership training programme.
