BREAKING; AAUA STUDENTS BEGIN NATIONWIDE PROTEST OVER OUTRAGEOUS FEE HIKE-INAAUA

Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko have today commenced a nationwide movement to protest against the outrageous TUITION fee that was announced by the University MGT and Governing council couple of days ago.

Recall that the TUITION fee of the institution which had #23,000 as the lowest and #35,000 as the highest was suddenly increased to #120,000, #150,000 and #180,000 consecutively (based on faculties).

The students who have in the past stormed the social media and various media houses to plead with the government to either not increase the fee or be lenient with the fee have decided to take the movement to the streets as the students union have finally resorted to the last C of dialogue which is confrontation.

The protest is set to hold in various states such as Akure, Lagos, Abuja, Osun, Ekiti, Ibadan and many others.

Reacting to the fee hike, the students union president of Adekunle Ajasin University and some other students spoke to Oasis Media correspondent on their disapproval of the new tuition fees.

We totally against the increment in our school fee as we believe that our state is largely occupied by masses that has nothing. Now if we now want to increase our fee it is inhuman and we will resist it with what we have. 200k is just to much for the student parent to pay on this note we say no to increment

IJANUSI OLAWALE (STUDENTS UNION PRESIDENT)

The hike in AAUA school fees is highly inhumane , The government here is autocratic. How do they want the students to go about paying this huge amount? Maybe we should start robbing banks or alms begging in the streets , Ondo is one of the states with best resources in Nigeria yet they are giving us fake figures as statistics , the government should reverse its decision on the school fees if they don't want rogues to take over the streets... -Marx

We all know the economic situation in the country for now, a government who refuses to pay above #18,000 as minimum wages is hiking tuition fee from 30,000NGN to 200,000NGN? Where do we go from here? When is education becoming source of income? And most of those occupying these positions benefitted from free education of baba Awolowo,.....all I know is that they can't turn us to thugs and social miscreant, when all their children are on abroad getting uninterrupted education, I boldly reject any hike in our school fees
